BAMAG & K.A.D organised litter pick up Friday 21 August 2009
On Friday 21st August 2009 BAMAG in conjunction with K.A.D organised and carried out a litter pick up in the Belvoir and Milltown areas. After donning fluorescent vests and protective gloves and arming themselves with hand held grabs kindly borrowed from Castlereagh Council the group started their litter sweep along and around the pensioners bungalows along Belvoir Drive to the Old Milltown Road, then across the carriageway into the bungalows and areas surrounding what was the Milltown bonfire site, before crossing back across the carriageway through Clulow Park and finishing in Millburn Court.
Although the areas are kept reasonably tidy by Castlereagh Council, some less accessible areas are easier accessed on foot. The area clean was again one of a number of projects that continue to be carried out in conjuntion with Castlereagh Council, NIHE, CSP, PSNI etc with young people from our community at the fore. Whilst our thanks will always go to those children involved and their parents who quite obviously appreciate the work we do, a big thank you must be given to our volunteer supervisors who continue to give their valuable time without reward, well done everyone.
