Belvoir Milltown kids meet the Belfast Giants
On 4th October the Belfast Giants entertained some of the children of the area to some team building and training before engaging in a Knock out competition in the Belvoir Activity Centre. This was an attempt to engage with the young people of the area in a fact finding exercise.
The event wasn’t as well supported as the organisers had hoped, but it is intend to try again, however those who did attend had a brilliant time, engaging with three members of the Belfast Giants who provided the coaching and the Belfast Giants Community Officer Louise Little.
However rather than leave anyone out a questionnaire is being produced for those aged 11 – early 20’s to give their views about facilities and clubs in the estates, as a community group we want to have the views of the age groups as to what to provide. In the past these groups appear to have been left out so we want to bring them on board as regards club and facilities in the estates.
This event was funded by the NIHE Community Cohesion unit as a spin off of the Shared Neighbourhood Project, it is hoped that the club facilities will be self supporting in future and give the youth a chance to develop themselves in various skills.
